Bastille Day

Vive le quatorze juillet!  Long live the 14th of July!  Pepper is back in France.  This time for la Fête Nationale, the National Holiday, better known as Bastille Day in English-speaking countries.  Learn with Pepper about the start of the French Revolution, the storming of the Bastille and the celebrations that followed in later years that lead to la Fête Nationale on July 14.  Understand why Marie-Antoinette was accused of saying “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche,” let them eat cake, and why another day was called "La journée des brouettes," the day of the wheelbarrows.  Pick up some French vocabulary along the way.

Mothers, Family And Essential Phrases

It's nearly Mother's Day!  There's still time to get Pepper's tribute to mothers, fathers and parental figures in her booklets, PowerPoint presentations and cards about some of the occupations these special people carry out in raising children.

Another popular item at this time of year is Pepper's booklet on Family.  It is suitable for Grades 1 to 3 and comes with flashcards to help reinforce learning the vocabulary.

Finally, Pepper recommends her "Essential Phrases" booklets to help students remember the most common phrases they need to be polite and to get help.  They help boost a beginner student's confidence in his or her ability to communicate in a foreign language.  This booklet is a great vocabulary refresher for the end of the school year and to keep in their jean pockets over the summer.
